What is Medication Management?

Medication management is a structured, collaborative plan to find the right medication, dose, and timing for your needs - and to keep you safe and informed as we track progress. It includes education about benefits/side effects, scheduled follow-ups, and clear adjustments over time. Many programs emphasize simple principles like the right patient, drug, dose, route, and time to reduce errors and improve outcomes. At Redbud, we pair that structure with patient-centered, medication-neutral care: we recommend what fits you - from established medications (including time-tested options like lithium or MAOIs when appropriate) to non-drug treatments such as TMS or Spravato.

Medication management may help if you’re living with symptoms of depression, anxiety, OCD, bipolar depression, ADHD, or related concerns that are disrupting daily life. It can be used alone or alongside therapy and treatments like TMS/Spravato for a more complete plan.

Who It Can Help

Medication-management visits are typically covered by insurance; we’ll verify your benefits, outline any copay/coinsurance, and schedule follow-ups accordingly. If needed, we’ll work with you to provide receipts for out-of-network claims. If you prefer self-pay, the costs are listed below.

Thorough Evaluation

In the first appointment, we review your story, goals, prior responses, medical history, and current meds to match options to you. Some assessments may be conducted to establish possible diagnoses as a guide for medication.

Personalized Prescription & Education

We discuss how the medication works, expected timelines, common side effects, and practical tips for integrating your medication schedule with your lifestyle/therapy. We co-create a clear plan.

Follow-ups & Fine-tuning

After the initial appointment/s, we check in regularly, adjust the dose or medication if needed, and watch for interactions with concurrent medication. Many people notice early changes within 2–4 weeks, while the full benefit can take longer.

When it fits your goals, we coordinate medication with therapy, TMS, or Spravato to support both symptom relief and skills-building.

  • Psychotherapy - can build coping and resilience, while medication reduces symptom barriers. Psychotherapy at Rebud focuses on emotional processing, using ISTDP.

  • TMS therapy - a non-drug option that can be paired with meds when appropriate.

  • Spravato (esketamine) - an in-clinic nasal spray used alongside an oral antidepressant for TRD.

Medication + Other Treatments

  • How long until I feel a difference?

Many people notice changes within 2–4 weeks, with ongoing improvement as we optimize dose/choice and combine with therapy or other supports. Everyone’s timeline is individual.

  • Will I have to stay on medication forever?

Not necessarily. Some people use medication short-term; others benefit longer. We’ll revisit duration together and taper thoughtfully when appropriate.

  • Can medication be combined with TMS or Spravato?

Often yes. We coordinate combination care when it’s likely to improve outcomes and align with your goals. Read more: compare treatments

  • How do you keep me safe?

We use structured prescribing (right patient/drug/dose/route/time), ongoing monitoring, and education about side-effects and interactions; we also consider age-specific cautions highlighted in geriatric guidance when relevant.
