Of Your Treatment Options

TMS Therapy

Good fit when: you want a non-drug option and can commit to regular, pre-established visits.

Pros

Non-drug, non-invasive (awake, no anesthesia; drive after sessions).

Effective when meds/therapy haven’t helped; many patients improve with minimal side effects.

Generally well-tolerated (most often mild scalp sensitivity or headache early on).

Often, it is insurance-covered when the criteria are met.

Cons

Time commitment: ~5 days/week for ~6–8 weeks (about 30–36 sessions).

“TMS dip” can occur (temporary symptom wobble mid-course, however, this does not necessarily mean it is not effective).

Very rare seizure risk (screened at intake; risk level is assessed based on medical history).

Pros

Same technology as standard TMS - much faster schedule (many short sessions/day).

A rapid path for people limited by time or travel.

Non-drug, non-invasive; no anesthesia with return to usual activities each day.

Cons

Typically self-pay (insurance rarely covers accelerated schedules).

Intensive days can be tiring; you’ll complete about 50 total sessions on a fast-tracked timeline.

Not everyone is a candidate; we’ll review safety and fit.

Accelerated TMS

Good fit when: you need results fast or can’t attend 6–8 weeks of daily appointments.

Spravato

Good fit when: you’ve had treatment-resistant depression and want a supervised, rapid acting option.

Pros

Rapid-acting potential (some feel changes within hours to days); benefits build over weeks.

In-clinic, supervised dosing followed by an observation period, which ensures optimally safe treatment.

Often, it is insurance-covered when eligibility is met.

Cons

Plan a ride home; no driving on the same day.

Short-term effects like dissociation, dizziness, nausea, sleepiness, or blood-pressure changes are possible (we monitor this carefully and provide support when necessary).

Usually paired with an oral antidepressant as per label; not a stand-alone for many.

Pros

Develop insight into how your personal experiences have shaped your present self

Dismantle underlying emotional barriers to eliminate self-destructive behaviours

Medication-neutral - can be used alone or alongside TMS/Spravato/meds.

Cons

Change is gradual and depends on engagement between sessions.

Emotional work can feel challenging before it feels better.

Psychotherapy

Good fit when: you want to work on core emotions and patterns through unpacking early experiences and understanding their impact on you.

Medication Management

Good fit when: you’re open to evidence-based medication and want close monitoring to minimize side effects.

Pros

Personalized prescribing with follow-ups to optimize dose/choice.

Broad utility across depression, anxiety, OCD, and more; can combine with therapy/TMS/Spravato.

Often insurance-covered, visits can be spaced out once stable.

Cons

Systemic side effects are possible (vary by medication).

Response can take weeks and may require trials/adjustments.

Adherence matters - missing doses can reduce benefit.
